Dragon Project Colors and Combinations
Here are the Pebeo Studio Acrylic Paints colors I used on the Happy Wise Dragon painting and combinations:
Gold (Opaque)
Buff Titanium (Ivory) (Opaque)*
Mars Black (Opaque)
Mars Black + Buff Titanium (Ivory) = Opaque Gray
Phthalo Emerald (Transparent)
Phthalo Emerald + Buff Titanium (Ivory) = Opaque Minty Green
Napthol Red (Transparent)
Napthol Red + Buff Titanium = Opaque Pink
Cadmium Red Hue (Opaque)
Fluorescent Yellow (Transparent)
Cadmium Red Hue + Fluo Yellow = Opaque Red-Orange**
* I like to use Buff Titanium instead of white for color mixing when looking for a more muted or antique-like “old” finish to my colors. I like using Titanium or Zinc White for color mixing when looking for brighter, more high-key color mixes.
** Use this Red-Orange to mix with and darken the green colors made with Phthalo Emerald. This darkened color is what I used in the dark part of the Dragon’s ears and in the shadows.
Note that you can use any brand acrylic paints that you have on hand or in combination with the Pebeo Studio Acrylics to achieve the colors I suggest above.
