In this article I share about how freeing it can be to create scribbles on a blank paper before creating a collage artwork with fun purchased and artist created papers on top.
The inspiration for this workshop was the Vases project with vase and vase silhouette paper cuts from the book, "Collage Du Jour" by Lucie Duclos. I have included a link to the book in the supply list below.
Collage painting is one of my favorite creative activities and I hope you’ll try some of the tips and tricks shared in the class video.

why I love scribbling on my paper surface before creating a collage;
different fun pencils and pens to use for mark making - water soluble or not water soluble;
how I cut or tear shapes for paper collage;
trick for how to cut a silhouette shape out of paper;
my “auditioning” method for paper placement before gluing down my collage;
my favorite acrylic mediums to use as glue for collage;
the inks and paint pens I like to use for mark-making on collage papers and on my glued collage;
